The Ultimate Saturday Check-In Survival Guide for Topsail Island

If you’ve ever checked into a beach rental on a Saturday in the summer, you know arrival day can feel chaotic fast.

Between traffic, crowded grocery stores, unpacking, and delayed check-ins, vacation stress can hit before the fun even starts. As someone who works with guests all over Surf City and Topsail Island every weekend, here are my best tips for making Saturday check-in smoother.

1. Leave Earlier Than You Think

Saturday traffic during peak season is no joke. Giving yourself extra time makes the entire day less stressful and gives you flexibility if your rental isn’t ready yet.

2. Skip the “Quick” Grocery Run

This is the biggest vacation mistake.

Saturday grocery stores are packed, lines are long, and what should take 20 minutes can easily turn into hours of your vacation.

That’s exactly why I started Celebrate with Cait — so guests can arrive to a fully stocked fridge and start vacation mode immediately.

3. Keep Beach Essentials Easily Accessible

If your rental isn’t ready yet or you arrive earlier than expected, having beach essentials easy to grab is a game changer.

Keep things like:

  • swimsuits

  • towels

  • sunscreen

  • flip flops

  • snacks

  • a change of clothes

somewhere accessible in the car so you can head straight to the beach and start relaxing instead of waiting around stressed.

4. Keep Arrival Dinner Simple

After a long travel day, nobody wants to cook.

Think:

  • sandwiches

  • frozen pizza

  • tacos

  • charcuterie boards

  • takeout

Better yet? Arrive with groceries already stocked and ready to go.

5. Expect a Few Delays

During busy season, cleaners and property managers are turning over homes all day long.

Flexibility is key.

Bring beach gear, snacks, and a relaxed mindset — it makes a huge difference.

Moral of the story...

The best beach vacations start stress-free.

Whether it’s planning ahead, simplifying arrival day, or having groceries stocked before you arrive, a little preparation goes a long way.

At Celebrate with Cait, I help guests throughout Topsail and Surf City start vacation the moment they walk through the door 🤍
